Our Story
Flying Saucer began with a simple idea: create a neighborhood pizza restaurant where creativity is encouraged and everyone feels welcome.
Over the years it has become part of Salem's fabric—serving locals year-round while welcoming visitors from around the world.
In 2025, after years as General Manager, Laura Potter became owner, continuing Flying Saucer's tradition while bringing new ideas, seasonal events, and an even stronger focus on hospitality.

Laura Potter
Owner • Operator
Laura has been part of Salem's restaurant community since 2007, and has called Flying Saucer home since 2018. After years as General Manager, she became owner in 2025 with a vision to preserve everything guests already loved while thoughtfully evolving the restaurant for the future.
She's passionate about creating memorable experiences—from imaginative specialty pizzas and craft cocktails to an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome. Under her leadership, Flying Saucer continues to embrace creativity, support local artists, and expand options for vegan diners, guests with food allergies, and anyone looking for something a little unexpected.
Her goal is simple: make Flying Saucer a place where great food, genuine hospitality, and a little bit of wonder bring people together.

Jacob Cooper
Assistant General Manager
Cooper started at Flying Saucer in 2016 as a dishwasher and has grown with the restaurant ever since. After mastering the kitchen, he now serves as Assistant General Manager, helping lead the kitchen, develop systems, train staff, and keep daily operations running smoothly. His steady leadership and behind-the-scenes dedication help make Flying Saucer the place our guests know and love.

Steven Feldmann
Founder • Established 2012
Steve has been working in restaurants since he was a young Padawan. A lifelong sci-fi fan and self-proclaimed nerd, he combined his love of pizza, creativity, and all things a little unusual to open Flying Saucer Pizza Company in 2012.
His vision was to create more than just a pizza place—a neighborhood restaurant with personality, where imaginative food, a sense of fun, and genuine hospitality could all coexist. That wonderfully weird spirit remains part of Flying Saucer’s DNA today.
THE MASCOTS
TaterTot & Rocket: Chief Feline Officers
Recruited to the Flying Saucer crew in 2025, TaterTot and Rocket oversee morale, quality control, and afternoon naps. Their performance reviews remain outstanding.
Charlie: Original Space Pug
Flying Saucer's original mascot, Charlie has been greeting guests (and accepting compliments) since the early days. His portrait still hangs proudly in the restaurant, and he'll always be part of the Flying Saucer family.
